Here is the promised follow up to my first post on the topic of the Norns and self-actualization. The Norns are most fulfilled in their own work when an individual chooses to walk the path of achieving their life purpose. When a person is sincere about this, the Norns' assistance is most willingly given. In making this CHOICE (if you remember choice was an important topic of the last post), an individual makes a distinction between walking the path to FATE and the path to DESTINY. So what is the difference?
A very important difference is making conscious choices, instead of living a life wherein things just happen to you. If you make no choices, and live passively, what happens to you is via the Law of Accident. Instead, to have a more conscious and aware life, we are asked to look deeply into choices and situations with care and awareness, and make thoughtful, responsive choices rather than reactive choices.
You take on a lifestyle around honoring your self, respecting your highest purpose and that of others. There is a Rune GIFU which means Gift, but with this comes the understanding that when you give you also receive, and when you receive, you have also given. There is a mutual exchange of energy here. When you are living your Destiny, in spiritual terms, you are freeing yourself from the Law of Accident (fate) and reaching as high as you can. The Divine, whatever you conceive it to be, will by your efforts in Grace reach down to you. Something happens in this exchange: The Higher blends with the lower with the result that is lower for the preceding higher and higher for the preceding lower.
To live with Destiny is to live with intent. Living with intent is not about the ego or small-s self controlling the flow of events in your life. It is rather about opening to and conspiring with the Universe toward a life that is fulfilled and meaningful. This will be different for every individual as we are unique beings, but there are enough similarities between us that what has helped one person up the trail will help another. When we live this way consciously, we begin to understand and utilize the Law of Manifestation.
